Ode to Alex

I married a handyman. No doubt about it! I have asked Alex to create so many things since we’ve been married. I decided to walk through the house & snap some pictures of all the things he has made. I failed to included the awesome, huge shelves in the garage… such space savers. I also did not venture into Alex’s side of the garage. He keeps all of his tools, Harley, riding mower, etc over there and keeps it spotless.

These 1st two pictures are my huge display unit Alex built for my bags & stuff when I do craft shows. The first one is a pic of one of eight panels that go around the center piece – pic #2. The pictures don’t do it justice. The next show I do, I will remember my camera & get some good pictures of it all put together… it’s really a cool design.

This next one is a ribbon display that he built for all of my ribbons. I actually could use another one, because what you don’t see is the piles of ribbon that didn’t fit on here.

Here is our basement storage. Alex built the shelves. And the tubs were almost all purchased with Menards rebates. BTW – I heart my label maker. Nerd alert!

This work of art hangs above Morgan’s bed. The colors are a bit washed out in the picture. The walls are light purple, the trim & letters are white, and the background is pink. So cute!

I had this crazy idea for curtains in our dining room, but couldn’t find hardware for it. So, I asked Alex to make them. Using curtain rods & finals that I liked, he cut & soldered them together to my specifications. I think I get the most compliments on these curtains than anything else in my house.

Ahh… our glorious lockers. I don’t know how families live without something like these. They are right in our laundry room so the kids can put the coats, shoes, & backpacks away 1st thing.

This was Mr. A’s solution to the multitude of balls we have in our garage. He built a ball rack like they use in high school basketball! Genius! (The bikes in the background are a bit distracting, but I think you can get the idea.)

He came up with this baseball bat & glove rack design too. SUCH a clutter-saver. We keep baseballs in a 5 gallon bucket & softballs in another 5 gallon bucket. No more digging through huge tubs of junk. :)

So, I hope you’ve enjoyed this look around my house. What are some cool things you’ve done around your house; or do you have neat organizational must-haves?

This post is kind a freakin me out Jill. It's got to be the engineer brain? C is the same way. Always coming up with something to save space etc. C has even helped me modify knitting patterns. So glad he can do the math!

Absolutely the engineer in them. :) Funny you said that about knitting patterns… Alex made my bag templates out of some sort of plexy glass stuff for me. No more cutting away at my patterns! Yay me!

Is it weird that I love home organization? I really do! So I loved all of these cool projects! And I'm totally jealous of your lockers…no room, even at the new house, for lockers like I'd hoped. Bummer.

My friends were just making fun of me for labeling the bins of clothes I have in storage.

I like home organizing too. The Container Store is like heaven to me. I should take a picture of Morgan's hair accessory draw.

I was given a hard time about my labeled storage tubs too. I know right where everything is tho!
