I know I have posted about these things before, but they have seriously improved my life as a mother, wife, household CEO, etc.
And I wanted to put them all in one easy to find place right here. I linked back to the “how to” posts. Just click on the blue words to read more.
1.) Family file folders:
Before I made these, I never had a place to keep certain papers, like book orders, team schedules, carpool schedules, etc. But now? Everyone knows exactly where to look for those things. It’s glorious! They have made paying the bills & filing statements a lot easier on me too.
Here’s how that area looks today:
That thing to the left of the phone is a weather station. Don't ask. The basket is Alex's. It's where his pocket junk goes. The 4 bowls were made my Lucas & Morgan. I keep found buttons in one, my rings -while cooking- in the other, etc.
2.) These folder books things:
I keep these in the cabinet above the family file folders. Morgan’s teacher sends home graded work every Tuesday. So I just get her ‘book’ out & put a few things in each week. The rest get trashed. Those are mainly busy work/worksheets anyway. At the end of summer, when the book is full, I put it in my “Kid’s Keepsakes” tub and make a new book.
3.) Weekly menu board:
Visitors always give me a hard time about this, saying, “Please tell me this is from last month and that you don’t really keep up with this.” But this thing has somehow made me menu plan once a week. And now that we have a chest freezer I will start making double dinners & freeze the 2nd batch. Added bonus: I’ve saved money on groceries since starting this.
Today, the menu board looks like this:
And just for kicks, I want to share this very, VERY helpful link that I naturally found on Pinterest. I was going to make an entire post about it, but why reinvent the wheel?
My next project is a cheaper/simpler version of this using things I already have around the house.
Come on, folks! Get nerdy with me, will ya?

I am putting all these things on my to-do list this weekend! We made something similar to your files last year, but we’ve neglected it lately. Thanks for the motivation

I’m not sure yet. It’s the change I’ve accumulated since starting the cash envelope system. It will go towards debt or maybe a bit of a treat/reward. It’s growing rather quickly!

Kimberly – I admit sometimes I let a nice little stack of papers pile up before I get them into the files. But for the most part, I love this system!
